Testimonials

Helen has taught our daughter Aila violin for the last two years and we are thrilled with her progress. This is thanks to Helen's inspirational teaching and passion for music. As a Year 7 student our daughter is able but lacked enthusiasm and confidence to excel at violin. Helen has worked on building up confidence in her ability through regular enjoyable practice in her studies. Aila often returns from music lesson with an amusing anecdote to share and has great fun with her teacher.

As a result of Helen's fantastic work my daughter is now part of the senior school orchestra, has been selected to take part in the chamber orchestra and perform for the school music platform. She will also take part in the music tour of Spain later in the year all as a result of excelling at her violin and Helen's teaching. She will complete her Grade 7 exam later this year and is already working on Grade 8 pieces.

As a fellow teacher i understand that teaching a child to excel at your subject is a brilliant outcome, however to impart a lifelong love and passion is rare and we are grateful to Helen's input to create an environment where our daughter can flourish.

Helen Griffiths has taught me violin since 2021. She has been a wonderful teacher who has helped me to increase my confidence and improve my playing. I enjoy playing the violin but find it challenging. Helen knew exactly what to do to keep me motivated and enjoy playing the violin. Helen put me at ease immediately enabling me to work at my own pace. Helen helped me understand my personal motivations for playing the violin and help me identify my own goals which enabled me to make progress at a pace which I felt comfortable with.

With Helen’s support and guidance I was able to pass Grade 4 with merit – which was a real achievement for me! Helen has also encouraged me to join school orchestras which has helped my playing and given me a love for playing with others. I’m so grateful to Helen for her support and have really enjoyed learning with her.

I’m so pleased that Helen became my daughter’s violin teacher. She takes the time to really get to know her students and tailors her teaching to their experiences, motivations, and abilities. This personalised approach helped my daughter enjoy playing the violin and stay motivated to continue learning. Helen is friendly and approachable, with excellent teaching skills that provide just the right balance of support and challenge. Her empathy builds trust, which encouraged my daughter to ask questions, take risks, and fully engage with learning.

By encouraging her to explore a range of musical styles alongside exam syllabuses, Helen helped her develop both creativity and technical skill. This gave her the confidence to audition for orchestras, and her playing has improved enormously under Helen’s guidance. We’re incredibly grateful for the way Helen has supported and inspired our daughter.

Helen Griffiths is an outstanding violin teacher whose love of the violin shines through in her lessons. Her pupils consistently achieve top exam results, a true testament to her skill and determination. Helen’s extensive musical knowledge and encouraging style inspire confidence and growth.

As a sectional leader, she brings clarity and cohesion to our orchestra, guiding the strings through the intricacies of baroque, classical, large-scale and concerto repertoire with precision and flair. Studying with Helen is a privilege - she brings out the very best in every musician.

My daughter Tallulah has been learning violin with Helen for the past four years, and the experience has been nothing short of exceptional. Her patience, encouragement, and genuine passion for teaching have helped Tallulah grow in both skill and confidence. The rapport she has built with her is truly special—supportive, inspiring, and full of mutual respect.

As a parent, I’ve always felt included and informed, thanks to her approachable nature and consistent updates on Tallulah’s progress. We feel incredibly lucky to have her as a teacher.

Helen Griffiths has worked with our family for many years, supporting our children through the higher grades on the violin. She has been particularly excellent in providing the technical and practical guidance which these grades require; more than that, she understands each pupil as an individual.

Helen has been an incredible teacher throughout my musical journey. I achieved Grade 8 Distinction with her before starting university, and she continued to support me throughout my Undergraduate studies, from preparing a concerto with orchestra to helping me prepare for my final recital.

With her expert teaching and encouragement, I was able to successfully audition for the Royal Northern College of Music, where I am now studying for my Postgraduate degree. I am so grateful for her dedication, inspiration, and the confidence she has helped me build as a musician.
